Spring is the season of new beginnings—fresh blooms, soft breezes, and a palette of colors that bring the world back to life. The Spring Tulips Table Runner captures this spirit with elegant tulips in full bloom, worked in crochet stitches that mimic the graceful curves and textures. Perfect for Easter gatherings, garden-themed parties, or simply brightening your everyday table, this design is a beautiful way to welcome the season indoors.
This table runner is part of my Four Seasons Table Runner Collection, with each design celebrating the unique beauty of its season. Spring’s version bursts with floral charm and fresh color, making it a centerpiece that’s sure to delight.
Pattern Overview
This table runner is designed with versatility in mind. You can customize the length to fit any table by choosing from three different sizes stated in the pattern or customizing to your own liking. All sizes will be 11inches wide, but you can add repeat sections to adjust the length to the following: 31″, 62″, and 93″. My table is an extra long 90 inch table but, I wanted this to be a smaller length that didn’t reach the full length so I customized to include 2 1/2 repeats and changed the color of each flower. I love how it turned out and features multiple colors of spring!

The runner is made using the signature knotted half double crochet that I use in most (but not all) of my color-changing designs. Continue reading for more information on this technique (further below in the blog post).

Have You Worked Color Changes in your crochet?
If you’ve been following me, you know my love of the knotted half double crochet. This stitch is what has allowed me to create some of the most beautiful designs using color changes. It creates gorgeous color transitions, clean lines, and angles among a full-bodied stitch.

The knotted half double crochet is a unique stitch that is new to many crocheters. I started designing with it in 2020 when I designed my Music to the Souls Blankets (and now I have over 30 patterns using it and many more designs on their way).
If you are new to crocheting color changes it can be intimidating. Starting a large project can be extra intimidating because you want it to start and end with consistent quality of tension/gauge and stitches. It was important to me to make everyone feel confident when making one of my designs using the knotted half double crochet and working my graph patterns, so I created a full course that walks you through all the nitty gritty you may want to know.
All my designs using this technique have full instructions in the pattern itself, but if you want to practice or need a little more guidance, please be sure to check out my Changing Colors Course.
