Easter Egg Pocket with Bunny & Chick Crochet Pattern

Do you ever see a craft that was popular in elementary school and a new crochet designs springs into your mind? That is exactly what happened to me a couple weeks ago, I immediately sat down and designed the Easter Egg Pocket with a Bunny or Chick Crochet Pattern.

Do you remember these cute paper weaving and cutting crafts from grade school? This is what was the inspiration behind the latest Easter pattern design.

I have fond memories of coming up with the best color combinations and then coloring so carefully to make the cute animals. As I sat down with my scrap yarn (which is a perfect way to use up all those leftover skeins) I fell in love with the egg pocket and cute animals.

Easter Egg Pocket Design

I love the weave look with the different colors of yarn. It just reminded me of a striped Easter Egg in spring colors. Immediately, I knew what stitch I needed to use to create this look and I already have a video tutorial of it! It is a basic block stitch that I used in my FREE Rock the Block Blanket that you can find by clicking HERE.

Crocheting this block stitch is so fun to see the weave created through the various rows. The pattern walks you through all the color changes and shape of the egg. The pocket can be made in a single color, or just 2 for a quilted look (see cream and teal sample) or add lots of colors for an Easter Egg look.

Bunnies & Chicks

After the Egg Pocket was completed I wanted a quick and simple bunny and chick pattern. The idea was to use the egg pocket as a pouch that it will slide inside of. After making several bunnies and chicks I saw how cute they turned out. Loving all the different pastel colors as they laid out, my daughter said the animals looked like sprinkles which she loves.

Some Bunny To Love Crochet Pattern

Everybody needs… Some Bunny To Love!

One afternoon, as I was perusing facebook one of my photographer friends sent me a message requesting a little stuffed bunny for a photo shoot. She wanted the child to be able to hold the little bunny by the arm with the bunny hanging at their side {I’ll be sure to share those photo’s once I receive them}.

Well, if you know me, I immediately sat down and started designing a cute little bunny. I had just finished designing my Sleepy Tight Teddy Bear stuffed animal and loved his long legs and arms. I immediately knew that this bunny would have those same darling features.

Some Bunny To Love

She needed to have some cute floppy ears, beady eyes, and cute nose and subtle mouth. But, even more important is a cute little fluffy tail.

Some Bunny To Love  Some Bunny To Love

Sleep Tight Teddy Bear Set – Crochet Pattern

Are you searching for the cutest baby blanket crochet pattern? Your search can stop, because you just stumbled upon it! The Sleep Tight Teddy Bear set is all you hoped for with fun textures and the cuteness of cuddly sleeping teddy bears.

Crochet baby blankets are one of the top handmade gifts given to new moms. Blankets are often made to coordinate with the theme of the nursery. All nurseries are set up for a good sleeping environment, therefore the sleepy animals all nestled into bed goes well in any babies room.

Sleep Tight Teddy Bear

The Sleep Tight Set isn’t just the blanket, it also comes with a fun size lovey and coordinating Teddy Bear stuffy. All 3 pieces make a complete gift.

the Sleep Tight Textures and design

The cuteness of the tucked in animals is what really makes this design so darling. But, the rich texture also make this crochet design stand out above the rest. The braided “v” stitch is unique and requires some alternating of the crochet piece to create. There is a video tutorial (see further down in post) to help you master the stitch.

Between the braided “v” is another fun texture that compliments the blankets design. A more simple alternating post stitch creates a beautiful look.

Sleep Tight Teddy Bear Lovey

Make a coordinating snuggly teddy bear.

I know these little sleepy teddy bears on the blanket are too cute. So now you have to add a snuggly friend to go with them. The Sleep Tight Teddy Bear is a perfect size, completed it measures about 13″ tall.

  • 1st Bear: main color “grey” / muzzle “oatmeal” / nose & eyes “black”
  • 2nd Bear: main color “cornmeal” / muzzle “egg shell” / nose “warm brown” / eyes “mocha”
  • 3rd Bear: main color “warm brown” / muzzle “carrot” / nose “egg shell” / eyes “mocha”
  • 4th Bear: main color “oatmeal” / muzzle “buff” / nose & eyes “mocha”
  • 5th Bear: main color “charcoal” / muzzle “grey” / nose “warm brown” / eyes “black” with “warm brown” lashes

New Coordinating Designs

With the popularity of the Sleep Tight Teddy Bear set I decided to expand the set and designed a coordinating pillow. A fun pillow that isn’t just cute but useful. I added a fun pocket that you can put your favorite teddy bear book in or nestle the teddy bear stuffy in.

One of the most common sets to give as a give is a blanket with a coordinating hat. Therefore, I am happy to share with you the Sleep Tight Teddy Bear Hat.

Sleep Tight Teddy Bears or Other Animals…

Do you love the blanket but know the nursery isn’t teddy bears. Well, you can customize the blanket with any other animal appliques. Over the years I have enjoyed seeing so many of these blankets that have been made with other themes.

18″ Doll PJ Set – Crochet Pattern Release

Something new is ready from Sweet Potato 3!!! My daughter received a beloved “American Girl” doll (ugh umm… Our Generation… wink) for Christmas. Of course the first thing she noticed what that her new doll, Ginger, didn’t have any PJ’s! Having some time on my hands I went on a hunt for a new pattern but couldn’t find one that had her special requests:

Stripes, Footed, Button Front PJ’s with Matching Hat

Yep, she was that specific. So, I went to work and soon realized how many different options you could create with just the one pattern.

PJ Set

The red and grey set was my first attempt and she LOVED it!!! But, with my baseball boys in the house I realized how fun it would be to make some purple baseball style pj’s (but this time I didn’t make them with feet so of course I had to add the slippers). Then one of my testers combined them with stripes and baseball style, I simply love it!

The pj’s simple slip on from the feet up and button in front. The slippers work up very quick and could even be used as shoes to go with all of the dolls outfits. And don’t forget the stocking hat to make this slumber party set complete.

Pygmy Seahorse Crochet Pattern

I was so excited to be able to create the new Pygmy Seahorse Pattern.

Why design a Pygmy Seahorse?

This came as a request from a sweet 2nd grader who was working on an animal report. Part of the report was to include a “model” of the animal. Many of the kids were bringing in stuffed animals as their model, However, her Mom couldn’t find one. So, of course I was so excited to fill her request!
Now a true pygmy seahorse is only about 2 cm tall. There is no way I could crochet something that small, plus she needed to be able to display it. So, we decided to make it between 7 & 9 inches tall.

About the Pattern

My favorite part about making this pattern is that it is crocheted as one piece! That is right, no sewing involved! Also, the pattern can be made in different yarn weights. The purple sample was made in worsted (#4) weight yarn and is 9 inches tall. The pink sample was made in light (#3) weight yarn and is 7″ tall. This little seahorse is sure to be very loved!
An actual Pygmy Seahorse (image is from a google search and had a deadlink, if you know who should get credit for this image please let me know), has raised bumps covering their body to help them blend in with the coral they live around and the seahorse has no fins.

Elephant Stuffy Pattern Release

  • Post author:
  • Reading time:1 mins read

Last year I designed a set of fun stuffy animals with the intent of newborn photographers in mind, but they are being made by so many and are made for everyone! I designed a teddy bear, fox and bunny. They were so successful and I have received so many wonderful comments about them I have thought about extending the line of stuffies. So when I received a message about how to alter the bunny into an elephant I ran with the idea.

Look at how cute he turned out!
This little guy stands at about 6 1/2″ tall and is slightly stockier than my other stuffies.

Now how about make this into a darling set and add a matching hat, oh that would be too cute!

The Bunny Bonnet is a simple design with a ridged/cable effect that frames the face, this adds just a touch of character and strength to help hold the ears up on the bonnet. The ears are flexible and can stand straight up or with a simple fold they can bend downwards. The bonnet comes in sizes from newborn up to child.

The Fox bonnet is also a simple design but has a criss cross design that begins about a third of the way back from the front of the bonnet. The criss crosses are only for character and add a lot of it! The bonnet comes in sizes from newborn up to child.
