Harlequin Infant Sleeper Crochet Pattern

The Harlequin Infant Sleeper is a perfect crochet project to gift when you just don’t have the time to make a blanket. A sleeper is a way to keep those babies warm, just slip it on over a onsie.

The detailed Harlequin, or stacking diamonds, pattern is a popular look for babies and in nursery decor. It adds a whimsical and charming look that will be adorned on a precious newborn. This is a must make item that will become a favorite to gift at showers.

Harlequin Infant Sleeper

The Harlequin Infant Sleeper Pattern Details

The sleeper pattern is made using a finer worsted weight or a dk weight yarn (just make sure you match gauge to have the correct finished size). In the photographed sleeper, I used Baby Wonder yarn by Herrschners, in the color, naptime.

Other supplies you will need include a crochet hook H (5.00 mm), measuring tape, scissors, tapestry needle, stitch markers and two 1″ buttons.

The completed size of the sleeper is 0-3 months old. It is designed to fit loosely and is long so it will fit children that are different lengths.

See it in Self Striping Yarn!

I was so excited to see the finished sleeper from one of my testers, Laura from Simple Stitches. She used a DK weight yarn called Ice Yarns Magic Light. I think the sleeper is gorgeous on her little Eliza, she is such a doll and the stripes look beautiful.

Precious Newborn Romper Crochet Pattern

precious romper crochet pattern

There is nothing sweeter than sleeping babies and I adore the popular trend that photographers are capturing this precious moment. The only thing that can make these babies cuter is a delicate romper. The Precious Newborn Romper has the beautiful texture of a lacey mohair that adds to the snugglyness of this shoot.

The popular rompers are very difficult to find in a crochet pattern. I designed a Classic Romper at the beginning of the year and it was such a success I decided to design a one in a lacy look and now I get to share the Precious Newborn Romper pattern with all of you.

The romper is designed as a photo prop for newborns up to about 2 weeks old and will fits a newborn between 6-12 pounds (newborns in the sample photos are 6 & 8 pounds).

knit picks aloft crochet romper pattern

The pattern was made using Knit Picks Aloft yarn. However, any lacey mohair yarn will work up if you check and match the gauge. The Precious Newborn Romper is made with less than 1 skein of yarn.

Classic Newborn Footed Romper – Crochet Pattern

When I started designing patterns back in 2011, I focused most of my designs on newborn photo props. I was in the midst of having and raising my babies, so I just couldn’t get enough of the newborn cuteness.

After nearly 8 years, my designs have evolved and I design a huge variety of items. But, I always enjoy going back to homebase. So, I am excited to share my first design of this year, 2019, with you all today. I hope you love the Classic Newborn Footed Romper.

Check out how beautiful the stitching is! The ribbing look also creates a lot of stretch to the Classic Newborn Footed Romper allowing for it to stretch in length and in width. The design is for newborns but can fit a variety of weighs up to about 12 pounds (the darling baby in the photo was 10 lbs).

The Classic Newborn Footed Romper is made with Patons Lace (which is listed as a #2 Fine Weight yarn). However, my testers made their rompers with other weights like: Premier Yarns Alpaca Dance (#4 weight), Stylecraft Special DK weight and Bernat Softee Baby (#3 weight). Just make sure you check your gauge and adjust your hook to meet the correct gauge before you begin to ensure the romper comes out the right size.

The new Triangle Twist Newborn Bowl is a beautiful and delicate newborn photography prop.

The Triangle Twist Newborn Nesting Bowl is just what you have been looking for. By using a unique Triangle Twist Stitch (explained with a photo tutorial in the pattern) you create an open stitch that tiny fingers and toes can poke out of.

Wrap up the newborn to resemble to womb will capture a natural and delicate look.

The design is elegant but make the pattern with mohair and it is stunning. Mohair is popular in newborn photo shoots because it exudes the fragility of newborn life. Capture those first moments with the design of a nesting bowl.

Two Different Looks to the Reversible Swaddle Pod

Take a peak at the images below, they are the same swaddle pods, just turned inside out. One side has a unique stitch look to it, almost resembling knit. The second side has a ribbed look. Each one is unique in their own way.

I love when you can utilize one pattern but it allows you to capture two different looks with it. This is a great addition to your photo prop stash for those newborns.

Sweet Tooth Hat Crochet Pattern Release

  • Post author:
  • Reading time:3 mins read

Working with newborn photographers, I rely on them for some of my designs. They request something and I go to work designing something new. But, when I got the call that they had a client who was a dentist and they really wanted a hat that looked like a Sweet Tooth, I was a little puzzled.

I love the creativity with this request but was not sure how to make a hat look like a tooth. But, after putting some creative touches on a flour sack hat, including some earflaps-or roots, it came together perfectly.

Sweet Tooth Hat

Sweet Tooth Hat Design takes Off

As darling as this photo turned out, I thought, there aren’t very many people who are really going to buy this pattern or purchase a tooth hat. Boy, was I ever wrong.

I listed the hat for sale in my Etsy shop to see if there was any interest. (side note: I no longer sale the finished product). I was receiving requests for up to a dozen hats for one person! I had to inquire and it turns out, it was a dentist office that was buying them for their clients.

Who would have thought? I was making Sweet Tooth hats by the dozen nearly every night of the week.

Sweet Tooth Crochet PATTERN

I was receiving so many orders, I was sending some of the orders to my pattern testers because I didn’t have the time to make them. This is when I realized, I had to release a pattern.

The pattern includes instructions not just for newborns but up to adults! You bet, a dentist or two ordered a hat for themselves for Halloween.

Sweet Tooth Hat

Materials Needed to make the hat

  • Hook Size J (6.00 mm)
  • Hook Size G (4.00 mm)
  • Worsted Weight Yarn ~ 60-130 yards depending on size made
  • Yarn Needle
  • Scissors

Fishing Set Crochet Pattern includes Hat, Britches, Suspenders, Fish & Net

  • Post author:
  • Reading time:3 mins read

Little boys are too cute in crochet photo props, and the fishing set has me wishing I had it for my boys! The fishing set is a whimsical touch with its hat, britches with suspenders, fish net and fish.

Fishing Set Photo Prop Crochet Pattern

Crocheting the fishing set is a fun experience because you get to pull in pops of color in the fish or in the flies that adorn the hat and suspenders.

The britches in the pattern are designed to go just below the knee. A length that reminds me of young boys running around through streams with their hems rolled up, while slashing along the way.

The hat has been a really popular design and I love it every time I get to make it. The pattern includes a step by step tutorial on how to make the flies and you can add as many as you like.

Fishing Set Hat

Where to get all the Fishing Set Patterns

The pattern has a few different ways you can order it. The full set includes the following crochet pieces: hat, britches with suspenders, fishing net & fish.

You may decide you only want the “toy” pieces of the set and want only the net and fish. For the fishing pole prop I just wrapped the yarn around the end of a stick multiple times to create this whimsical look.

Cable Bucket Wrap Free Crochet Pattern

  • Post author:
  • Reading time:10 mins read

Newborn photos are a family keepsake. Photographers who specialize in capturing this precious time in a newborns life are beyond talented. They rely on trending photo props and soft textures are so appealing and trendy right now. My latest crochet pattern, the cabled bucket wrap, has all those features.

The bucket wrap is designed to simply tie around a bucket. No need for the photographer to search high and low for the perfect side of bucket to nestle the baby in. Instead wrap it around your favorite one for a whole new look.

Cable Bucket Wrap

Making the Cable Bucket Wrap

The luxurious cables intertwine using a super bulky yarn, so it works up quick and creates the rich texture in no time at all. The wrap is made as a flat wrap that ties around the bucket allowing flexibility in used. The bucket in the image shown above is about 9″ tall and 11″ across the top opening.

Materials needed to make the Cable Bucket Wrap:

  • Crochet Hook size P (10 mm)
  • Super Bulky Weight Yarn ~ about 185 yards  / Sample was made using Lion Brand in Houston Cream
  • Scissors
  • X-Large Yarn Needle or smaller crochet hook to weave in ends

Stitches & Abbreviations Used in the Pattern

  • Ch = Chain
  • Hdc = Half Double Crochet
  • Dc = Double Crochet
  • Tc = Treble Crochet
  • FP = Front Post
  • BP = Back Post
Cable Bucket Wrap

Size Gauge:

  • Please check gauge for appropriate sizing, change hook to correct size to obtain gauge.
  • With Hook P: 5 rows with 8 hdc = 4 ½” wide X 4” tall

Finished Cable Bucket Wrap Size:

Bucket Wrap will be 9” tall and 33” long (made to fit a 9” tall X 11” across bucket)

Pattern Notes:

  • The wrap is made to fit most buckets. It’s tie in the back allows it to fit buckets that may vary slightly in size or be larger on the top or bottom.
  • The beginning chain always counts as a stitch.
  • Due to the nature of crocheting cables, each stitch needs to be a different length to result in an even row. Rows will have a combination of dc & tc stitches.

The Cable Bucket Wrap PATTERN

The pattern for the Cable Bucket Wrap is below. I looks long, but I broke it down in step by step bullet points. Be patient, it is easier than it looks.

Cable Bucket Wrap Flat Lay

Of course you would be able to tell how beautiful this set is without the talent of Christy Mitchell Photography. She is an amazing photographer to work with from Wallingford, Connecticut. Christy is the inspiration behind many of my designs and always goes above and beyond with her images. Just take a peak at her work in the images below of the mohair set.

Mermaid Set Crochet Pattern – Added Sizes!

  • Post author:

Mermaid Tail Sets are so popular in photographing little girls right now. I recently released a fun set for newborns but I received so many request for larger sizes that I had to add them.
The Mermaid Photo Prop Pattern now includes 3 sizes: newborn, 3-6 months, and 6-12 months.

More about the Mermaid Set

The Tail of the Mermaid prop is made in a raised but still slightly subtle wave pattern. The look replicates that of scales. The tail simply slides over the legs and is secured around the waist of the baby.
The bikini top is cute band that has a pinched pleat in the center of the front. This design is easy on a sleeping baby. If you have an older baby that is slightly more mobile, you may want to consider adding a small neck strap, but make sure you supervise the infant while it is wearing the set.
The headband features a design that can either be a starfish or a swaying flower of the sea.

Have fun with colors

Be creative with colors while you make your mermaid set. A simple change here can dramatically change the look of the mermaid set.
