Easter Egg Pocket with Bunny & Chick Crochet Pattern

Do you ever see a craft that was popular in elementary school and a new crochet designs springs into your mind? That is exactly what happened to me a couple weeks ago, I immediately sat down and designed the Easter Egg Pocket with a Bunny or Chick Crochet Pattern.

Do you remember these cute paper weaving and cutting crafts from grade school? This is what was the inspiration behind the latest Easter pattern design.

I have fond memories of coming up with the best color combinations and then coloring so carefully to make the cute animals. As I sat down with my scrap yarn (which is a perfect way to use up all those leftover skeins) I fell in love with the egg pocket and cute animals.

Easter Egg Pocket Design

I love the weave look with the different colors of yarn. It just reminded me of a striped Easter Egg in spring colors. Immediately, I knew what stitch I needed to use to create this look and I already have a video tutorial of it! It is a basic block stitch that I used in my FREE Rock the Block Blanket that you can find by clicking HERE.

Crocheting this block stitch is so fun to see the weave created through the various rows. The pattern walks you through all the color changes and shape of the egg. The pocket can be made in a single color, or just 2 for a quilted look (see cream and teal sample) or add lots of colors for an Easter Egg look.

Bunnies & Chicks

After the Egg Pocket was completed I wanted a quick and simple bunny and chick pattern. The idea was to use the egg pocket as a pouch that it will slide inside of. After making several bunnies and chicks I saw how cute they turned out. Loving all the different pastel colors as they laid out, my daughter said the animals looked like sprinkles which she loves.

Cropped Motif Cardigan – Crochet Pattern

The Cropped Motif Cardigan is an ideal light layer to cut the chill off on spring days. Designed to be a lightweight layer the cardigan will become a staple in your closet.

Designed in a unique square motif style the cardigan is easy to make in steps or on the go. Each square features a flirty floral design that gives is a perfect look of spring and will coordinate with most attire.

Cropped Motif Cardigan

The versatility of the cardi is endless. Pair it with a lightweight long sleeve shirt, like my daughter did (above image) and it works as a vest. Wear it over a spring sleeveless dress or tank top to add a little warmth.

About the Cropped Motif Cardigan Pattern

The cropped design is seen in the capped/cropped sleeves that cover the shoulder and in the length falling mid body. If you prefer a longer cardigan, you could add an additional row of motifs, however, I have not made one. If you do, I would love to see how it turns out.

The pattern comes in adult sizes ranging from Adult Small up to XLarge.

Made in a light (#3) weight yarn and a crochet hook H (5.00 mm) and crochet hook I (5.5 mm), the Cardigan works up quicker than you might think.

Whispering Willows Poncho – Crochet Pattern

The Whispering Willows Poncho is a beautiful summer wrap. Made in the right colors this poncho can dress up any evening attire with it’s elegant look. It can be a cute swim top cover, with a cute pair of shorts, because of it’s free flowing design. And, it can add a fun whimsical look to a simple jeans and t-shirt day!

The stitch combination in the Whispering Willows Poncho creates a lovely texture and natural lay of the accessory allowing a slight breeze to go through, but there is still enough close stitches to keep you warm.

About the Whispering Willows Poncho Pattern

The pattern comes in only 2 sizes because ponchos have a forgiving fit and will fit a range of sizes. The pattern has a small/medium size as well as a large/XLarge size. You can easily add additional rows to make the poncho longer to cover more of the arm and/or to add length to the design.

Made in a lighter worsted weight yarn and a crochet hook I (5.5 mm), the Whispering Willows Poncho works up quicker than you might think.

Some Bunny To Love Crochet Pattern

Everybody needs… Some Bunny To Love!

One afternoon, as I was perusing facebook one of my photographer friends sent me a message requesting a little stuffed bunny for a photo shoot. She wanted the child to be able to hold the little bunny by the arm with the bunny hanging at their side {I’ll be sure to share those photo’s once I receive them}.

Well, if you know me, I immediately sat down and started designing a cute little bunny. I had just finished designing my Sleepy Tight Teddy Bear stuffed animal and loved his long legs and arms. I immediately knew that this bunny would have those same darling features.

Some Bunny To Love

She needed to have some cute floppy ears, beady eyes, and cute nose and subtle mouth. But, even more important is a cute little fluffy tail.

See up close images of the set below

The bonnet is made to have floppy ears. You can use traditional/regular yarn for the inside of the ears (shown in photo above), or you can choose to use a more fuzzy yarn, like Bernat Happy, for the inside like the  photo below.

The Bow Tie is a cute addition and can be used with any outfit. The bow tie is made to button in the back of the neck. The button is adjustable so you can make it fit any child. It is very important to make the neck band extra long and not button on too tight.

Bunny in Britches Bow Tie

My favorite part of this set is the britches! There is just something classic about the longer shorts, designed to fit to the knees, with suspenders. I love the old fashion look. The britches are designed to wear over a diaper and can be tied in front to help them stay up. Simply add the pom for a tail and it is the perfect touch.

Now those pieces are all adorable, but I couldn’t stop there. Every bunny need a cute little carrot to nibble on. The carrot is about 8″ tall and works up really quick.

Well, now, that is enough cuteness for one day. Grab this fun pattern and crochet it up for your little one. Share you photo on my facebook page so I can gush over the cuteness overload.

Easter Egg Display – Crochet Pattern

Remembering my Grandmother and her love of thread crochet is what inspired the Easter Egg Display Pattern. Each year my Mom displays a large egg with Easter trinkets inside that my Grandma made. It wouldn’t be Easter at Mom’s without that out on the entryway table. I wanted to bring some of that into my own home and so I created a much smaller version with more detailed design and I hope you like it to.

The Easter Egg Display features a chevron pattern around the main part of the egg with a simple pattern on the top and bottom. The bottom is made flat so it can stand by itself. The pattern includes instructions on how to starch (stiffen) the final egg using household items. The Easter Egg Display stands about 10″ tall and is about 8″ wide. What a fun gift for Easter or a great memory your kids can have as you bring out the Display each year.

Today I spent cleaning out my craft room. While I was going through my huge yarn stash I found a beautiful skein of super bulky yarn. It was so soft and the colors reminded me of spring. I knew I had to make something quick and fun and wanted it to be something useful. So the Simple Crochet Basket popped into my mind!
The Simple Crochet Basket was perfect to have on a stand and keep my current WIPs (works in progress). It is small enough to keep those small remnants of yarn, my hooks and project all just fit perfectly.
