2018 Crochet Cancer Challenge Final Pledges

We are a week into November and the 2018 Crochet Cancer Challenge has officially wrapped up. Every year that I have organized this Challenge, I am amazed at how committed everyone is to help out. The designers always reach out to join and come up with some amazing designs. All of you crocheters, who crochet relentlessly to create hats to give.

All of this encourages me to continue every year. This was my 5th year organizing the Crochet Cancer Challenge and I was blown away with our final pledge numbers.

Final Pledges

Just to let you know how amazing our final pledge count is, this surpassed last year by over 10,000! We could not have done this without each and everyone of you.

I hope you found the Crochet Cancer Challenge to be as rewarding as I did. I am already excited to organize next years to be even bigger and better. Make sure to bring those donations into your local cancer center, I took my stack in on Monday and it is always so rewarding. I like to think of my Uncle Jeff when I walk into donate, and it make me chuckle just remembering his laugh, it was one that I will never forget. I love you Uncle Jeff!

Sweet Potato 3

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE thank the designers.

A huge part of our success every year is how willing other crochet designers are to give a pattern in exchange for a pledge. I want them to know how much we all appreciate this. So, please, take a little time today to thank them. Write a message on their facebook page, send them an email or facebook message, or even share a photo of the hat you made from their design.

Crochet Cancer Challenge – BONUS DAY

WOW-I still cannot believe that October is behind us. The Crochet Cancer Challenge has been so amazing this year. I want to extend a huge thank you to all the designers that helped out, I couldn’t have done this without all of them. MORE important though, is all of you! You, fellow crocheters, are the ones who have made, 1, 2, 3, 15, 30, 60, 100 hats. Each one of those hats is what is making a difference. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

And NOW, I am so excited to announce that we are having a BONUS DAY! Throughout the Crochet Cancer Challenge I had a handful of other designers contact me asking if they could participate. At first I said I would put them on a list for next year. But…. then I got to thinking, who turns away help? Not me! So, today is a Bonus Day where I get to feature some new designers to the Challenge and we are offering some additional patterns in exchange for more PLEDGES!

For today’s pattern, I am very excited to have Kate from Crafting Friends Designs join us. Kate is one of the big reasons behind our featured weekend designs. She has asked to participate in the past years, but she doesn’t design hats. So this year, I decided to try something different on the weekends. Today, Crafting Friends Design came up with the beautiful Loop the Loop Cowl. I love the creative design within the color changes and how it creates a fun loop the loop look. This will work up quick and be a nice addition to your donation boxes this year. Grab your copy of the Loop the Loop Cowl from Crafting Friends Design Shop on Ravelry: HERE

Snappy Tots

As I mentioned above, today’s design is from Snappy Tots. The Snappy Friends Shawl coordinates with the Snappy Friends Beanie that was featured yesterday. The shawl looks amazing in the ombre yarn. I haven’t started mine yet, but with how quickly the hat worked up I am sure the shawl will do the same. Grab your Snappy Friends Shawl: HERE.

Snappy Tots

Todays pattern was designed by my good friend, Heidi, over at Snappy Tots. Heidi is always full of great design ideas and her Snappy Friend Beanie is so cute. The hat is worked from the top-down (which I know many of you prefer) and the band is really fun to make because it incorporates the main hat stitches right into it! The Snappy Friend Beanie is made in a worsted weight yarn. Snappy Tots made her sample in a beautiful Ombre, don’t you just love it! Grab your Snappy Friends Beanie: HERE.
