A Woodland Twist on a Favorite Design
This blanket features adorable forest animals peeking out from crochet blocks that are designed to look like quilted blocks. Creating the illusion of woodland animals snuggled under a cozy patchwork quilt you’ll find this blanket design charming. The blanket features the woodland animals like a racoon, deer, fox, bear and bunny – each designed with love and perfect for woodland-themed nurseries or baby showers.
The pattern keeps the rich texture look in the stitches as the original teddy bear design. However, this time, we’ve swapped the teddy bears for forest friends, adding a touch of outdoor adventure to your crochet projects.
Pattern Highlights
- Skill Level: Intermediate to advanced
- Stitches: the ‘blocks’ in the main body of the blanket are crocheted as one piece, changing stitches throughout the row. They are not individual blocks sewn together.
- Techniques Used: textured stitches, crocheting a border, keeping consistent gauge, detailed appliqué, sewing, blocking.
- Size: Ideal for a baby blanket measuring 30 inches wide by 40 inches high.

Materials Needed for the Sleep Tight Forest Friends Blanket
- Hook size I (5.5 mm)
- 1320 yards Worsted (#4) Weight Yarn –
- Sample made in: Premier Yarn Anti-Pilling Worsted Weight yarn
- Main Color (yellow-Butter in sample): 900 yards (5 skeins)
- Contrasting Color (cream-Aran in sample): 300 yards (2 skeins)
- Approximately 15 yards (or less) of each of the following colors where used in crocheting the appliques: Charcoal (dark grey), Carmel (medium brown), Clay (orange), Dove (dark brown), Mist (light grey), Aran (cream-same as on blanket), Dogwood (pink), Black
