A perfect showing of vintage spring fever is this adorable crochet umbrella canopy. I can just picture all those little girls in their Easter dresses and lacy umbrellas posing for those perfect pictures.

Now you can create this same look by making the crochet umbrella canopy and attaching it to a child size umbrella.

About the Umbrella Canopy Pattern

umbrellafinal-1

The pattern has full written instructions for the canopy, (sorry, no chart is provided in the pattern). The canopy of made using a super fine yarn instead of thread so it will work up quicker than thread but will still resemble a vintage doily.

Once the canopy is crocheted you will need to attach it to an umbrella frame. I had planned on upcycling an old umbrella that had a tear in it, however, when I opened it up there was a broken arm. I went out and purchased a children’s umbrella and it did the trick.

The pattern includes a full step-by-step photo tutorial for preparing your umbrella frame and how to assemble the canopy to the frame. Instructions are written (no chart) and the canopy is made using a super fine yarn instead of heavy thread.

Note of Umbrella: find a child size umbrella measuring 16” from top of canopy to end tips, umbrella must have 8 points.

Reversible Puffy Vest – Crochet Pattern

4 Comments on Reversible Puffy Vest – Crochet Pattern
My family is obsessed with any kind of puffy coats, vests, jackets. Because, if they make it, we probably have it. As a crochet pattern designer, I had to sit down and cochet one when our friends had a little guy on the way. Not only did I design a puffy vest, I designed a reversible puffy vest!

puffy vest crochet pattern

About the Reversible Puffy Vest Pattern

Before I sat down to design a vest, I searched high and low for a pattern with no luck. Therefore, I believe, this is the first puffy vest pattern designed and it is fun to make. One key element I love about it is that there is very limited amounts of sewing pieces together. I did my best to “stitch” the pieces together as you cochet the vest.

The pattern includes sizes for younger children

0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-12 months and 12-24 months

See the Reversibility

And check out how cute it is in pink!!! A huge thank you goes out to Trish, owner of Crochet Kind of Day, for testing this pattern and sharing her darling version of the Vest.

The crochet pattern is made using a bulky yarn so it works up quick. But take a close look at the stitches used and what they really look like. The pillow includes the details of the primer and brass on one end, and the crimping closure on the other end.
I love seeing how changes stitches and simple techniques such as stitch placement can really make a pattern pop with detail.

Snowman Crochet Hat & Stuffy Pattern Set

No Comments on Snowman Crochet Hat & Stuffy Pattern Set
Thinking of snow? Thinking of a snowman crochet sets? I know this popular tune from a classic wintertime song keep running through my head…

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

The Snowman crochet hat and stuffy crochet pattern remind me of one of my family’s favorite winter memories together. As soon as we see snow flurries, my kids are at the window waiting for enough to accumulate to build a snowman!

Snowman Crochet Set
The Snowman Hat has been a popular winter hat for the last few years. It comes in sizes for newborn up through child (usually about age 12), so these can be made for so many kiddos.

The popularity has grown so much for matching stuffies and hats over the last few years so I had to design a cute little snowman to go with the hat.  I love how cute the set coordinates together, simply adorable!

Snowman Crochet Hats are Cute for Everyday Wear Too!

Are you in search for a versatile crochet piece that can convert a cowl into a hat? Well, today is your lucky day!

I love finding accessories that can be used in multiple ways. Especially, if it can change according to the weather that so often varies so much everyday. The chilly mornings, to warmer afternoons and back to an evening chill.

I was very excited to come up with the Convert A Cowl Crochet Pattern and it is ready for you to crochet one for yourself.

Tie it up high, it’s a hat

About the Convert A Cowl Pattern

The popular cowl/hat combo is the perfect accessory for this year! Made in a beautiful textured stitch that creates a soft drape to the hat and cowl. Simply tie the pom drawstrings together to make it a slouchy hat. Un-tie them and pull it over your head for a fun cowl.

The Convert A Cowl is made in worsted weight yarn. I used Lion Brand Heartland and love the subtle variations in the mossy green color. The pattern comes in sizes for child, teen/ladies, adult/men’s.

Elephant Stuffy Pattern Release

1 Comment on Elephant Stuffy Pattern Release

Last year I designed a set of fun stuffy animals with the intent of newborn photographers in mind, but they are being made by so many and are made for everyone! I designed a teddy bear, fox and bunny. They were so successful and I have received so many wonderful comments about them I have thought about extending the line of stuffies. So when I received a message about how to alter the bunny into an elephant I ran with the idea.

Look at how cute he turned out!
This little guy stands at about 6 1/2″ tall and is slightly stockier than my other stuffies.
Grab your copy on:
Now how about make this into a darling set and add a matching hat, oh that would be too cute!
The Elephant Earflap Hat can be ordered on:
And here are the other animal stuffies I mentioned earlier.
I hope you enjoy each and everyone of them.

Knot Knit Beanie – Crochet Pattern

No Comments on Knot Knit Beanie – Crochet Pattern

As a long time crocheter, I have always admired knit garments. I love the woven look to them and even tried to learn to knit. I just found it hard to use two needles and the time I spent on the small project was not very productive. But, I still love and admire those knit projects.

But now I can enjoy making a crochet pattern that looks knit!
Yes, you read that right. Through many internet searches I kept seeing an image of a vintage stitch that looked woven. After trying to figure the stitch out I finally got it and had to use the stitch on a hat and I was so excited with the end result.

The pattern has sizing from Newborn up to Adult and has instructions to make them with the double stripes or to make it in a solid color.
Grab your copy of the pattern in any of my shops:
I did include a photo tutorial of the stitch.
While my testers were reviewing the pattern one of them mentioned that they had viewed a great video of the stitch, see below (they used a different name for the stitch but it is worked the same way). I hope you find this helpful.

Enjoy the pattern and make sure to follow me on facebook so you don’t miss any new pattern releases or promotions.

Serenity Yoga / Beach Tote Crochet Pattern

A friendly crochet design competition can be so fun and challenging all at the same time. I recently was a participant in one and designed the Serenity Yoga / Beach Tote. Keep reading so see how this design came to be.

As a competitor, I received a theme, a stitch and was given 4 weeks to be ready to release! The pattern had to be designed, written, tested and photographed with deadlines along the way.

The Theme: Serenity

I was so excited to hear about the theme. When I think of, Serenity, I think of being at peace, in nature and feeling relaxed. To me, there is no better place than to be in the Mountains. The above photo was a photo we took on a recent hike I went on with my family in the Payette National Forest in Central Idaho.

The Stitch: Serenity

A few days later the stitch was released. I was surprised to hear that it was called, SERENITY, as well. The Serenity stitch is basically a picot, cluster, picot repeat. We were shown this as a sample.

Now, I was ready for the design frenzy that was going on through my head. I had about 4 or 5 designs and really struggled on settling on one. However, in the end, my thoughts about serenity was always,
Quiet, Meditative, Nature,

The Design: Serenity Yoga / Beach Tote

I had so much fun designing this tote. It is something different than my typical design style. I really tried to push my level of creativity and loved seeing the bottom of the bag change with each row. I used Premier Yarns Cotton and loved working with this yarn. It will wear nicely and wash up great!

I made the bottom of the tote fun and colorful, as the bottom turns the corner it is solid for a more stable base to the tote and allows the yoga mat to easily sit at the bottom. About 4″ from the base you get to see the beauty of the serenity stitch begin and show off the delicateness of the stitch repeats.

After adding a shoulder strap and a drawstring closure the tote is done!

But, not everyone is into yoga. I want everyone to be able to make this toe because it is so much fun! So, I included instructions to make the tote smaller and it will work perfect for a day at the beach. The photo’s below are courtesy of Nondas from Yarn Medleys from the Heart.

Kendal, from Kendal’s Kreations, also made a beautiful full sized Yoga Tote.

And one more fabulous sample is by Gillian from Enfy’s Creations.

Grease Monkey Cap Pattern Release

No Comments on Grease Monkey Cap Pattern Release
A few years ago I had a photographer contact me about a custom hat that she wanted to go with one of her new props. If you know me, this is what I love! She sent me a picture and we worked together through a few different designs until we got it right. What do you think?
The Grease Monkey Cap fit the picture perfect! I love how it came together and it is now a new pattern released from My Sweet Potato 3 Patterns.
Grab your copy on:
The vintage look of the Grease Monkey Cap is seen in the entire design. The hat is made to sit above the ears (not cover them like most traditional crochet hats). The brim is made extra long to help create that vintage “flip” look. There are directions on where to fold the brim to get it to flip correctly. The pattern includes sizes from newborn up to adult. Here a a few views of the hat from the front and side (excuse the baby watermelon, it was the only thing that was the right size for a 12 month hat).

Just for fun, here is the original image I was sent as a sample.

Easter Egg Display – Crochet Pattern

Remembering my Grandmother and her love of thread crochet is what inspired the Easter Egg Display Pattern. Each year my Mom displays a large egg with Easter trinkets inside that my Grandma made. It wouldn’t be Easter at Mom’s without that out on the entryway table. I wanted to bring some of that into my own home and so I created a much smaller version with more detailed design and I hope you like it to.

The Easter Egg Display features a chevron pattern around the main part of the egg with a simple pattern on the top and bottom. The bottom is made flat so it can stand by itself. The pattern includes instructions on how to starch (stiffen) the final egg using household items. The Easter Egg Display stands about 10″ tall and is about 8″ wide. What a fun gift for Easter or a great memory your kids can have as you bring out the Display each year.

You can get your copy of the Easter Egg Display Pattern on:
