Triangle Twist Newborn Bowl – Pattern Release

No Comments on Triangle Twist Newborn Bowl – Pattern Release
The new Triangle Twist Newborn Bowl is a beautiful and delicate newborn photography prop.

The Triangle Twist Newborn Nesting Bowl is just what you have been looking for. By using a unique Triangle Twist Stitch (explained with a photo tutorial in the pattern) you create an open stitch that tiny fingers and toes can poke out of.

Wrap up the newborn to resemble to womb will capture a natural and delicate look.

The design is elegant but make the pattern with mohair and it is stunning. Mohair is popular in newborn photo shoots because it exudes the fragility of newborn life. Capture those first moments with the design of a nesting bowl.

Soccer Ball Crochet Hat Pattern

No Comments on Soccer Ball Crochet Hat Pattern
Soccer Ball Hat Pattern

When I started selling completed crochet hats back in 2011, I had a custom request for a soccer ball hat. The request was for it to NOT be a plain white hat with black shapes sewn on. I searched high and low for a pattern and was having no luck!

So I grabbed my crochet hooks, my yarn and my son’s soccer ball; I was going to make this work! I was determined to figure something out.

My first hat probably took close to 12 hours to figure out. I crocheted and frog many times and came really close to giving up. But the picture above is proof that it turned out and was a hit!

How the Soccer Ball Hat became my first published pattern!

I listed that hat and sold 2 the first day. The even more exciting part was that I also received 3 messages from other crocheters asking where I got the pattern.

I told them I had looked for one forever and just made it up, to my surprise, each person I told that to requested the pattern and said they would purchase it. The thought of selling patterns had not crossed my mind.

It took awhile to decipher my notes, decide on a layout and have a few friends test the pattern for me. It was such a success I even branched out and started an entire pattern designing business, Sweet Potato 3!

More About the Soccer Ball Hat pattern

The hat is made by making individual shapes and stitching them together. Once the shapes are stitched together you crochet around the base of the hat filling in the odd shapes with stitches of different heights to make it all align.

Once the main hat is crocheted you can decide if you love it how it is, want to add a brim or if you would like ear flaps to your design. Each hat you make will have that traditional soccer ball look but can be changed with these design elements.

Consider changing out the colors for a fun twist on a traditionally white and black hat, whichever color you choose, it will be a hit.

Crochet Hat with Earflap Option – {FREE Pattern}

One of the most popular crochet pieces is a hat. They are fun and quick to make with the right pattern. Today I am offering my basic crochet hat pattern for free. The pattern includes the option to add ear flaps. Once you have the basic hat pattern the opportunities are endless with what you can make.

Basic Crochet Hat Pattern

The Basic Crochet Hat Pattern includes all sizes from newborn up to adult. You can make it in a solid color, add stripes, or add the ear flaps… can you start to envisions some fun possibilities.

Get your copy of the Basic Hat pattern by clicking this LINK.

Some fun examples of how to customize your hat

I used the hat pattern to make some fun custom Valentines Day hats. Check out how cute they turned out.

All these hats look different by adding a different colored band, or adding stripes throughout the hat. Adding ear flaps also gives it a whole new look. Then add cute appliques, like hearts or mustaches. Embroider letters to make them pop or add cute messages. You can find the Free Mustache Pattern I used from Tutus & Tea Parties, it was very simple to follow and I LOVE how it turned out (check out my free cowl pattern that I also used it on by clicking this link).

Mustache Cowl

I hope you enjoy the free hat pattern (and cowl) and come back to try some more designs by Sweet Potato 3.

Have you been searching for a fun and unique holiday crochet hat, maybe one that has a twist? How about a Peppermint Twist Crochet Hat! I am so excited to share this fun whimsical hat with you all today.

I designed this hat to look just like the fun peppermint candies that you see all over during this time of year. It is super cute and it keeps you nice and warm.

Peppermint Twist Hats in Many Colors!

I know that as a crafty person, you are running different color combinations through your mind right now. The traditional red and white, green and white and or course pink and white all make darling hats.

If you are thinking of a little softer look it is still super cute. I made one in a beautiful cream and light pink for a newborn and it has a softer look but still shows off a whimsical charm.

About the Crochet Pattern

The Peppermint Twist Hat is made using any worsted weight yarn. The diagonal twist is crocheted right into the stitches, you will be amazed at how easy it is to make.

The pattern includes sizes from newborn up to adult. Anyone wearing this unique hat design with feel a little spunky while wearing it!

Wrap Me Tender Hooded Scarf Crochet Pattern

No Comments on Wrap Me Tender Hooded Scarf Crochet Pattern
It’s getting cold outside, I think I need a hood and maybe a scarf. Well, why not combine them into one piece. Introducing the Wrap Me Tender Hooded Scarf crochet pattern.
The Hooded Scarf pattern is crocheted to be a convertible accessory. When it is chilly, wrap it around your neck to keep you nice and warm. As the sun comes out and warms you up, simply unwrap the scarf and let it hang to the side to keep you comfortable.
Hooded Scarf Wrap Me Tender

About the Wrap Me Tender Hooded Scarf Pattern

The hooded scarf is made with a combination of double crochets. Since the double crochet is one of the taller stitches, the fabric works up quick and before you know it, your project will be complete. Made in a worsted weight yarn creates an ideal warmth in the stitchwork.
Wrap Me Tender Hooded Scarf
I love the pattern made up in the plum color. But, I can totally picture this in a bright red for the holidays (or for Halloween-Little Red Riding Hood). A lovely self striping yarn would also create a lovely look to the scarf.
The pattern comes in 3 sizes. One for toddlers, one for children an one for adults.

Herringbone Brimmed Beanie Pattern Release

No Comments on Herringbone Brimmed Beanie Pattern Release
Boys can be so hard to find a good hat pattern for. So I was on the hunt to design something perfect for those boys in our lives. The request I kept hearing from my kids and many of their friends was that they wanted it to cover more of their neck and shade their eyes. I also kept seeing visor beanies at the stores and so I grabbed my hook and yarn and went to work.
It didn’t take long before the Herringbone Brimmed Beanie came to life.
My boys are thrilled with it and I hope you like it too. The herringbone stitch is a turn change of pace to work (the pattern does include a photo tutorial on how to work it).
The Herringbone Brimmed Beanie can be found on:

Cancer Charity Challenge 2014 {Crochet}

      45 Comments on Cancer Charity Challenge 2014 {Crochet}
This past week I lost my Uncle Jeff to cancer. I had to do something, so I quickly threw together a Cancer Charity Event to honor him.

My uncle was one of the most lovable guys you could ever meet. He was always smiling, cracking a joke and had one of those laughs that was contagious to everyone that was around him.

Cancer is such a difficult journey that too many people have to face in their lives. In honor and memory of my Uncle Jeff I am starting a Cancer Charity Challenge.

This challenge is for everyone.

Cancer Charity Drive

For Crocheters

For those that know how to crochet, I am offering a coupon code for a FREE HAT PATTERN from my Ravelry shop.

I just ask that you pledge to make a minimum of 1 hat (please make more if you can) for someone battling cancer or to donate to a hospital. The hat you make does not have to be made from my pattern, the challenge is just to help someone fighting for their life.

Cancer Charity Drive
The coupon for the FREE HAT PATTERN is “CHALLENGE”. This coupon will be good  for any single hat pattern through October 31, 2014.

October is Cancer Awareness month, so this is just a jump start for you. If you are unable to donate your hat(s), or if you simply prefer, you can send your hats directly to me and I will donate them on your behalf. Just send me a message on facebook for the shipping address.

For Non-Crocheters

Cancer Charity Hat drive

If you do not crochet, you can still help. I am committing to making 10 hats and donating them to cancer patients. If you would like to SPONSOR A HAT you can order one in my etsy shop and I will make one (in addition to my 10) and donate it on your behalf. You can sponsor a hat for charity through Cancer Awareness Month (October 2014).

Animal Ear Warmer Crochet Pattern

2 Comments on Animal Ear Warmer Crochet Pattern

Check out how fun these Animal Ear Warmers are!!The perfect accessory to keep those ears warm on colder days, these are perfect for boys and girls of all ages (the pattern has sizes from newborn up to adult). WARNING: Hot Seller at Craft Fairs too…

animal ear warmers

Customize your Animal Ear Warmer Pattern:

Each Ear Warmer begins the same way. Make the basic band in any size from newborn up to adult. You will make it just the way you want with instructions/suggestions for color changes for the different animals. Wearing just the band is also an option for a more simple look.

Make the Band

Build each headband using the instruction for each individual animal. Make pieces for the eyes, nose and ears. Switch up pieces if you like (change out the open or sleepy eyes on the fox & owl) or decide to leave some off for a more simple look like the sock monkey option.

Sew on the pieces for an adorable ear warmer. If you haven’t sewn on appliques before, you may find this tutorial I created helpful, just click HERE. Using this technique can give your crochet work that professional look:

Your completed Animal Ear Warmers are sure to be a huge hit. Request will probably start coming in for more animals, or different colors, but the best part is, the options are endless.
